I feel like the reason for this is that the game is not easy to get into, especially if you like playing survivor, certain elements like stunning the killer and quickly changing prop types mid-chase can be tricky to do for a new player, hence why killer wins 4 out of 5 matches in bronze. It makes me sick doing so much in a match and getting the MVP status and still losing my rank points. You can tell the Propnight devs did not put much thought into it. You always get dumb teammates and de-rank, you even lose rank points if you are the MVP or do the most in a match out of everyone, but of course Propnight doesn't care about that - the only thing that counts is if you win the match - the only scenario when your rank points are safe - a very stupid and a lazy ranking system. I'm 25 hours in and can't get out of bronze. In my 25 hours of gameplay I've observed that if you want to rank up you'll have to play killer at the start and as you rank up higher, switch back to survivor as this game is killer sided in the lower ranks and survivor sided in the higher ranks. Look at DbD - if you do well enough in a match but don't win - you won't de-rank and sometimes will even gain a rank - this applies to both killer and survivor.
